Iron Man

Review by CanisKil

"A fairly simple and straightforward game yet hard control-wise."

This is a game more for the fans of Iron Man than for the casual gamer caught up in the hype of movie marketing still currently running rampant. At $40.00, you may wish to rent it rather than by it. But, this being a review of the game, you will still need to make your own decision, so with that being said, let's continue on.

Story: 9/10

Pretty much follows along the lines of the movie. You (as Tony Stark) have been kidnapped by the evil terrorists and are being forced to make weapons for them. Not happy with your plight you construct the first Iron Man suit and fight your way to freedom. Throughout the game you improve upon your armored creation while destroying all the weapons you had previously sold out. If you want more in the way of detail, either go see the movie or get this game. Personally, I say, go see the movie. It's cheaper and you'll be better entertained.

Graphics: 9/10

The graphics of the game are simply marvelous. It seems more time was spent on the fine visual details than actual gameplay. The Snozberries taste like actual Snozberries. For me, this was the best part of the game. Personally, I prefer better gameplay over graphics.

Controls: 5/10

Think Socom without the second analog stick. In lieu of the missing analog stick you get to use the face buttons, making things more difficult than really neccessary.Your constantly having to stop and adjust the camera angle tends to get a bit old after a while. Multiple uses for the same button made me a bit frustrated. Flying for me took some time to get used to, it should have been made just a touch smoother.

Gameplay: 6/10

Most of the game is spent finding and destroying your previously sold weapons, thus hindering the bad guys and redeeming yourself along the way. Throw in some boss fights and what not, and you have decent game. You also get to choose which suit you want to fight in. My only complaint here is the quickness that the game was finished in. Oh well, I guess I can always go back and replay the missions.

So, in the end, this is a decent game that could have been a lot better. I was left wanting more from my experience playing as I was at the end of the game before I knew it. Maybe they'll do better if they decide to try again if there's an Iron Man II.
