Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time

Review by eatmyshortsdude

"Explorers of Time: It really does take up your time."

A sequel to spin off show, it has been successful so far. Moving around mystery dungeons, taking on Pokemon, doing one by one turn battles. When I first bought the first game, I thought, “Hey, a Pokemon game. It always surprises me by how well it goes. Might as well give this one a try.” Well I didn't think wrong. This game is as bad as ever, with an even better storyline.

Story 10/10
I only have one word to say. Incredible. The plot line is outstanding, the characters have shown a lot of 'emotion', and although it is a bit far stretched, that's the way mystery dungeon games are supposed to be. You start off as a Pokemon with amnesia, and along comes a Pokemon, who saves you. You two become a explorer team, where you have to fight evil and all that.

Controls 8/10
This is this games downfall, although considering 8 is its lowest score, this game fairs pretty well. Walking around dungeons is strangely addicting, as you have to plan your tactics, know when to move or not, or when to use an item. Anyway, because it's like really hard to move diagonally, I have died a lot. A lot. Maybe it's just personal opinion, because I don't use the touch screen, but I don't think the controls are that good.

<b/>Graphics 9/10
If you played the first game, not much to say, because it's exactly the same. If not, it's moderately well, just don't expect Playstation 3 graphics. The dungeons give a really effective color to fit in, so that's a nice touch. Also, the Pokemon each have their own pose when they do their move, so I think that's cool.

Sound 10/10
The sound is great. For example, when the Pokemon are shocked, there are special effects to add on. Music in the dungeon are also good, it goes along with which dungeon you're in. Nothing to complain here. It's good.

Replability 10/10
You won't regret it. Replability is very high, as there's 291 Pokemon to catch, including the legendaries. Takes up about 50+ of hours, really fun. I clocked 99+hours in the first game, and I think you will too in this game.

Overall 10/10
This game is awesome. Don't rent it. Buy it. Everything is so great, except for some parts because it is quite hard. Anyway, buy it. I recommended to play it during long trips.
