Pac-Man World 2

Review by Cablevision2

"So much fun, just like the classic."

Pac-Man... Whenever I say that name, I instantly think of the arcade. The arcade brings back great memories. Pac-Man was one of the greatest games of all time. It's up there with Tetris and Dig Dug and all those other greats. If you go anywhere and mention Pac-Man, you are guaranteed that most of the people know about it. Well, in this game... Pac-Man is back in action in this new, 3D, fun game for the average 80s child.

Story: 8/10

The story is quite short. The evil ghosties have stolen all your Golden Fruit! OH MY! It turns out the Golden Fruits were used to keep the Master of the ghosts at bay. With the fruits gone, the big ghost is free and your adventure begins. You must defeat the ghosts and get the fruits back so Pac-Village can live in peace.

Game play: 9/10

Remember when all you had to do with Pac-Man in the classic game was just pick whether you wanted to go left or right and up or down? This does not happen here. In the game, Pac-Man is free from the walls of his maze prison and can wander anywhere. You can go through many levels that include lakes, snowy mountains, and high treetops and more. In these levels are enemies that want to make you fail in your quest for the fruit but your butt bounce (heh) will stop them in their tracks. There are lesser fruits that if you collect enough you can get special power-ups or the all important dots. That's right, you still eat dots in this game. There is also an arcade in Pac-Village where you can play the classic Pac-Man and Mrs. Pac-Man games. But you have to collect many tokens hidden in the game to unlock these classic games so if you're buying for the old Pac-Man games rolled into one game, you have to play this one first. The old mechanics are here. You collect dots throughout the game, yes there are power pellets, and your aim is to collect all the dots and kill the ghosts and reach the end of the level. What I found awesome is the fact that there are hidden crates in the game that if you find one, you can engage in an old school style of Pac-Man but in 3D.

Graphics: 9/10

The graphics are splendid. They are cartoon-like in appearance and that's how they were made. The enemies look like they came from some of our favorite cartoons and the ghosts are here as well and they are very cool. Entirely 3D and gorgeous to look at.

Sounds: 8/10

All the sounds are cartoon-like and some of the music can get repetitive. No big, revolutionary, music styles here but the sounds are pleasant to listen to.

This game is for one of those people who LOVE Pac-Man. If you played the classics back in the 80s and want to reminisce, buy this game. It has the old school Pac-Man games and this new 3D adventure. All in all fun. Thanks for your time.
