X2: Wolverine's Revenge

Review by darkphoenix2264

"I'll get my revenge yet too....thought it is fun."

Wolverine's revenge offers thrills and spills. Sometimes I've had fun, other times I've basically been bored by it. Well, let's get on with the review.

Plot-10/10
I don't know THAT MUCH about wolverine's life, but I like this plot. Basically, at first you're in the past at the weapon x center when wolverine met sabertooth and got his adamentium, and you go around making your way out of the place. Then, you go to the future, and you find out that the fail safe virus weapon x implanted into wolverine is getting ready to go lethal on wolverine's birthday. What a present. So, basically you have to seek out the weapon x researchers, find the anti-virus, and stop yourself from getting killed all while tangling with the likes of sabertooth, magneto, and lady deathstrike.

Sound-7/10
Lots of things to say here. First, this: Patrick Stewart as Professor X and commentaries by him as well. That's pretty cool. But don't play it on a one speaker tv, or at least the beginning. It's hard to hear what's going on during the movies. Wolverine's voice is good, so is everyone else's. They found good actors. As for music and sound effects: the sound effects work, but most of the time the music is ''suspenseful'' and I could barely hear it. I like music so that kinda disappointed me.

Graphics-7/10
The faces are of course what bring this down. Especially wolverine's, I thought they could have made his look better. Oh well. Professor X looks like a human raison. It just does not suit Patrick Stewart's voice. Other then that looks good.

Gameplay-9/10
The senses system-You see in heat, you can see foot prints, see someone's scent. This provides for lots of sneakyness. Also is the strike system. If you're fighting one guard, and you use no claws and punch him and/or kick a lot, pretty soon you see something called strike. Press O and wolverine pulls off a cool combo, depending on what level you're on (I'll explain levels in a second). Against two or three opponents, you can pull off even cooler strikes. And, if you sneak around and the enemy does not see you, you sneak behind them basically, you can pull of a stealth kill which is basically a nice little quiet kill without any disruptions. One thing that bugs me is that I remember this one guard that I got right in his view, he stared right at me, and did nothing. So I was able to stealth kill him easily and quickly. Now, the levels depend on how man dog tags you get. You get a dog tag for finding one anywhere, beating a boss (you get 5 for that), stealth kills, or triple strikes (hurting three enemies all at once with a strike, hard to pull off but very cool.) Once you get enough, you gain a level up which gives you cooler strikes. You can also collect movies (most of which you get when you see them in game, 3 you get by beating special challenges), cerebro files (info on certain characters or other interesting facts, such as the weapon x facility) (you also get them for beating bosses), and challenges (after you beat the game). Lots of stuff to get, but it can be easy if you know how and where they should be. WHEW!

Overall-7/10
With the things I was disappointed with it kinda stopped it, and a stupid computer A.I., but all in all it was a fun little excursion.

Rent or buy? I rented this and got it all and I still have time left on my rental. Definitely rent.
