X2: Wolverine's Revenge
Review by Nomadic View
"Finally a game that realizes he has more than just claws!!!!"
Story : 4/10
The first part of the game is accurate, I'm sure you know the basis of the story: He was abducted and his bones was imbued, you know the story. Where the game creators started creating their own story is where it is lacking. I can't give you critical details without spoiling it. But when you play the game I'm sure you will know what I mean.
Graphics : 5/10
This is not the game's strong point either. The graphics are not impressive...at all. At the same time they are nothing to gawk at. They are fairly average. The characters are not very crisp and clean as it should be expected with a new-gen system game, but its not that bad. The main character (Wolverine) is well detailed and looks great, but everyone else looks kind of generic. Like Wolverine was put into a different video game or something.
Sound : 8/10
The animantium on steel and flesh sounds good, not superb, but good. The voice-overs are superb, however. With the voice acting from Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) is surpurb. I couldn't imagine someone doing a better job.
Gameplay : 10/10
This is where the game really shines. With stealth kills, a dozen of finishing moves, and the simple brutality of the animantium claws. This game makes full use of his other powers not just his claws. You can track people by their foot prints, smell their scent (its a green mist coming from the person), and see things that a normal person cannot. Even his healing ability has been added to the game. All without energy bars (excluding the health bar and the pissed off meter). That sound good? It does to me. You can play the whole game in high-senses mode if you feel so inclined. The stealth kills is a great addition to the game. BAM! instant kill. But if that is boring to you, you can still just jump right in there haul ass. The only skill this game is missing is being able to scale walls, other than that it has everything you would expect + more.
Difficulty : 8/10
This game is HARD. You are thrown into a fight of about 6 guys at the very beginning. Without even giving you time to get comfortable with the controls. As soon as you start to get the hang of it and start to feel comfortable, the enemies get 200% harder.
Replay Value : 3/10
Nothing much here a few ''challenges'' to unlock and that's pretty much it. After you beat it you probably won't care to do it again.
Rent or Buy: Rent
Even if you are hardcore X-men junkie, this is a definite rent. It can be completed in about two days playing casually. One with dedication.
Overall : 7/10
The gameplay is the only thing holding this game up. Everything else is lacking or just simply average.
