You may see this guide pop up and wonder, Gee, why the hell is there yet
ANOTHER Final Fantasy X guide? Well, there are three reasons for this. OH NO
WATCH OUT I'M ABOUT TO MAKE YOU SNORE WITH THIS BORE

1) I wanted to do a FFX guide. I went through this game recently and took lots
of notes, and loved the game. I feel I can provide good insight and analysis
into the game, and this game could never have too many good strategies to choose
from. It's a really complex game when you get down to it.

2) I plan to do guides for all the Final Fantasy games. Well, not ALL of them,
but 1 through X-2 (not 11), Mystic Quest, Tactics, and maybe the Legends games.
So, yeah, pretty much all of them. And, I figured I might as well do FFX while I
have the motivation to do so and the game is still fresh in my mind!

3) This is a different kind of guide. Most guides out there make you do the side
quests to do their strategies. Not me. This guide is mostly for the people out
there that want to play through the game without having to do 50,000 side
quests. I didn't even play the game "correctly", as everyone had sucky
abilities, and I still whooped ass at the end. The key is not how powerful you
are, but the strategies you use to showcase your power, and this game provides
opportunity for plenty of strategy.

So, those are pretty much the reasons why I decided to do this guide. It has a
little to do with helping people, but it's mostly for my own selfish goals and
gains. I don't really care what you think, I write for myself. But, this guide
is good for those who are like me and don't want to do side quests. And, this
guide DOES have a side quest guide (written by my sexy friend Cyril) for those
who wish to waste time with silly nonsense.

Enjoy!

Final Fantasy X was released by Squaresoft in late 2001, and is the first Final
Fantasy for Playstation 2. That's really all you need to know, as I did a
FANTASTIC review for this game that explains all about it. The game is unique,
innovative, and can be pretty fun if you don't let it get to you. Plus, the
music is very good. So, enjoy the game. Or something. NYAH.

3 fun facts about Psycho Penguin
1) Psycho Penguin often wonders why he hasn't gotten away from the FAQ writing
hobby by now.
2) Psycho Penguin really had a lot of fun writing this guide, as well as most of
his others.
3) Psycho Penguin's email address on his contributor page doesn't work, because
too many people send him viruses and he gets mad at the viruses and dumb emails
he doesn't want to receive.

That pretty much sums it up. I don't really like getting emails, sorry. I feel
there's enough places to go to ask for help with the game without emailing me
about it. I do this for fun, as a hobby. It is not my job to assist you in your
FFX experience. I did this guide for me, and for you as well. Everything you
need to know should be here. I like emails that are personal, or correct
information in the guide. All game-related emails that have to do with asking
how to do something in the game will be deleted.

Anyways, a little background information on me. I've been writing for
GameFAQs.com for a little over four years now. I have done tens of guides (w00t!
tens of them I say!) and many reviews over the years. I don't think I am better
than anyone else for doing this, though, and most people who talk to me on AIM
(that don't go to the reviewers board) think I am pretty easy to get along with
for a "prolific" writer. I just do this for fun, but I have many hobbies and
like to talk about anything, so hit me up sometimes.

This is usually the part I like to do least in a guide, so bear with me here. If
it's no good, I'm sorry. If it's any good, then a lot of people lost some bets.

Battle Preparations:

For the first time in a Final Fantasy game, you don't have to use the same
characters for the entire battle. Due to the fact you can switch characters in
and out of battle, you no longer really have to worry about battle preparations.
In exchange, now characters work better against certain kinds of enemies. For
instance..

Physical Characters:

Tidus: He uses a sword and basic white magic. Works best against enemies that
are ground based and have no hard-shell. You can customize his sword to get the
piercing ability, but I see no reason as to why you would want to. His Trigger
Commands also come in handy during certain battles. He is one of the better
characters in the game.

Wakka: He uses a ball for the most part, and has skills, which not only attack
but also inflict status effects on enemies. His ball works best against flying
enemies, but he can also hit pretty much any enemy with it for good damage. His
attacks are also good, especially Dark Attack, which will prove to be one of
your best skills.

Auron: He is one of the best characters in the game, due to his high attack
power, but he sucks against flying enemies. To make up for it, he works best
against ground-based enemies, especially hard-shelled ones, which Tidus cannot
get to. Plus, his "Break" abilities let you do stuff like Power Break and Armor
Break, which makes enemies weaker. You'll be using those a lot.

Kimarhi: He is very similar to Auron in that he gets the piercing ability, which
allows him to kill ground-based, hard-shelled enemies easier, but it also works
well against regular enemies, as well. Flying enemies are a bit iffy, but he
still does better against them than Auron does. He also gets some unique
abilities, especially Lancet, which lets you steal attacks from enemies, in
which he can use during Overdrives.

Rikku: The weakest of the five physical users, and the only female, but she
can't use magic that well, so I put her here. Her main attributes are her speed
and agility. She gets a unique overdrive called Mix, which allows her to combine
two items together for some great results. She can also steal items from
enemies, as well as throw coins at them.

Magical Characters:

Yuna: Since there just had to be FIVE physical attack characters in this game,
Yuna will double as the Summoner and White Mage of the group. She learns all the
top white magic spells, as well as getting the unique ability to Summon, so she
will be doubly useful during the game. Her physical attacks are pretty crappy,
but her magic more than makes up for it, and she'll even be kicking ass with
Holy by the end.

Lulu: She is the black mage of the group. You know how they work by now, weak
attack but good magic. She gets all the top black magic in the game, and her
overdrive lets her do as many magic attacks as she can in 10 seconds, dependent
on how many times you move the analog stick during the timer. Plus, when she
gets Doublecast and a 1 MP ultimate weapon, she becomes unstoppable.

Key to Victory:

The key to winning battles is to use these characters in their proper ways. You
will encounter a variety of enemies, that usually only one character can kill.
As long as you are aware of each enemy's weaknesses, you can succeed. I
recommend always having someone with a sensor weapon equipped in your party, as
Sensor allows you to view enemy's HP and statistics.

Battle Basics:

Final Fantasy X employs the same looking battle system, but you will see some
noticeable changes and improvements. For one, battles are completely turn-based
again. You will see a CTB menu in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
This lets you know who will go next during battle. It's always important to pay
attention to this, to see who gets to go next. Planning strategy is key in this
game.

Each character gets their own command window. Everyone can attack, but after
that, it's character dependent. It is important to learn a variety of skills and
abilities to keep your characters strong enough to win battles.

Also, as explained at the beginning of the game, when you meet Elements, the
opposite spell works on them. Red is weak against Ice, Yellow against Water,
etc.

Battle Commands:

Attack: Each character gets this battle command. It allows them to do a physical
attack on the enemy of their choosing.

Special: These are character-dependent skills that the character can gain access
to on their section of the Sphere Grid. Lulu gets Doublecast, Wakka gets his
attacks, Tidus gets Flee, etc.

Magic: If a character can use magic, they show up in the next two parts. It's
cool how they're separated by white and black on the menu now. You don't have to
shuffle through one magic box for two types of spells, they each get their own
section now.

Item: The usual here, as you get to use items.

Push left on the menu screen to change equipment or escape from battle. It also
lets you use an Overdrive when the time comes.

Push right when it says "trigger command" to do that character's trigger
command.

Pushing triangle at your turn allows you to defend while switching to the next
person's turn.

Status Effects:

There are nine negative status effects in the game. Here are a list of what they
are, what they do, and what it takes to cure them.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Name | Effect | Cured By.. | -------
-----------------------------------------------------------------
| Berserk | Attacks only, but power increases. | Remedy |
------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Confusion | Increased chance of hitting yourself.| Remedy |
------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Darkness | Your hit rate percentage decreases. | Eye Drops |
------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Petrified | You're as good as dead. | Soft |
------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Poison | You lose HP every round. | Antidote |
------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Silence | You are unable to cast spells. | Echo Screen |
------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Sleep | You are put to sleep, can't attack. | Remedy |
------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Slow | Time between turns will increase. | Remedy |
------------------------------------------------------------------------
| Zombie | You become hurt by cure and life. | Holy Water |
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Overdrives and Overkills:

Overdrives are simple enough. As soon as your overdrive meter fills up all the
way, you can perform the character's overdrive. What you need to know is that
you can change the way your character's overdrive mode fills up. If your
character kills a lot, change it to Slayer. If it defends a lot, change it to
Defender. You can do this in the status menu at the menu screen.

Overkills are more unique in that when you do a certain amount of damage to an
enemy to finish them off, you "overkill" them, and then get more AP, usually
about 50% more, but sometimes less. Each enemy has a certain amount of damage
necessary to "overkill" it. Check section 6.2 for each enemy's overkill
information.

Aeons:

When Yuna summons an Aeon, the Aeon is the only controllable party member. It
can do everything from attack to magic. It has its own statistics, ranging from
HP and MP to agility and power. You can upgrade these on the Aeons status menu
screen.

It has attack, one special attack, magic, shield, boost, and overdrive.

Attack: Just a normal physical attack, like a party member's attack. Usually,
they get higher attack power than your characters do.

Skill: Each Aeon has their own unique skill, which ranges from slowing down
enemies in battle to devastating offensive attacks.

Magic: Each Aeon gets different magical attacks to perform. You can learn new
abilities in the Aeons status screen on the menu screen.

Push left for Overdrives.

Push right for Shield, Boost, and Dismiss.

Shield: Receives less damage, but overdrive meter takes longer to fill up.

Boost: Receives more damage, but overdrive meter takes less time to fill up.

Dismiss: Remove the Aeon from battle, returning the battle to the regular party.

Last Thing To Remember:

After each battle, characters get AP and Gil. AP is NOT split at the end of
battle. So, I always recommend using each party member at least once. All they
have to do is defend in order for you to get AP for them. It's much easier to
level up in this game because of this, and it makes switching characters become
more tedious, as you'll have to do it EVERY Battle, but it becomes easier to
level them up as a group.

^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^

Sphere Grid Basics:

The Sphere Grid is the most innovative and unique system Squaresoft has ever
devised for a Final Fantasy game. Instead of using normal level ups for
characters, they now receive AP at the end of battles. When they gain enough AP,
they will move up a "sphere level", which basically allows a character to move
one space forward on the sphere grid, or six steps backwards.

The sphere grid is designed in a way so that characters cannot become too
overpowered too quickly. Each one starts off in a section of the grid, and they
can move in a straight line, picking up bonuses depending on what spaces they
happen to land on. There are many different spheres in the game.

Power Sphere: Activates strength, defense or HP statistic increases.

Mana Sphere: Activates magic, magic defense, or MP statistic increases.

Speed Sphere: Activates agility, accuracy, or evasion statistic increases.

Ability Sphere: Activates skill, special, or spell ability slots.

Basically, when you land on a slot, you have to use a sphere to activate it. If
you have a HP +200 slot, you need a Power Sphere to activate it. Also, I found
out that you don't need to be on a slot to activate it. As long as you are
connected to a slot, you can activate it. What do I mean by connected? Let me
try my best to explain it.

  0
 / \
0 0

Fear my mad ASCII art skills. Anyways, you see that you are next to both of
those. Let's say you are starting off in the lower right hand corner. You can
only activate the sphere that is northwest of you, because that line "connects"
you to it. You are not connected to the one to the west of you, so you can not
activate it, even though you are next to it.

Now, don't think those are the only ones you get. You also get the following:
Fortune Sphere, Attribute Sphere, Special Sphere, Skill Sphere, White Magic
Sphere, Black Magic Sphere, Master Sphere, Level 1 Key Sphere, Level 2 Key
Sphere, Level 3 Key Sphere, Level 4 Key Sphere, HP Sphere, MP Sphere, Strength
Sphere, Defense Sphere, Magic Sphere, Magic Defense Sphere, Agility Sphere,
Evasion Sphere, Accuracy Sphere, Luck Sphere, Clear Sphere, Return Sphere,
Friend Sphere, Teleport Sphere, and Warp Sphere.

Here is a listing of what all of these do!

Fortune Sphere: Activates a luck sphere. These are hard to come by for some
reason.

Attribute Sphere: Activates a statistics node that was already activated by
someone else.

Special Sphere: Activates an ability node that was already activated by another
charcter.

White/Black Magic Spheres: Activates magic nodes that were already activated by
others.

Master Sphere: Activates any node that were already activated.

Key Spheres: Unlocks certain nodes on the grid. More on that in a second.

HP Sphere: Turns any empty node into HP + 300 node.

MP Sphere: Turns any empty node into a MP + 40 node.

Strength Sphere: Turns any empty node into a Strength +4 Node.

Oh, you get the idea from all of them up to Clear now.

Clear Sphere: Erases any sphere you used above, like HP sphere, and makes it
empty.

Return Sphere: Allows a character to return to any activated node they have
activated.

Friend Sphere: Allows a character to move on a node where another character is.

Teleport Sphere: Allows a character to return to any activated node anyone has
activated.

Warp Sphere: Allows anyone to go anywhere, regardless of whether it was
activated or not.

Now, then, let me explain how locks work. Once in a while, an area of the sphere
grid will be locked off, and the only way to unlock it is by using a "Key
Sphere" on it. For instance, if you're being blocked by a "Level 2 Lock", using
a Level 2 Key Sphere on it will unlock it and allow you to move onwards.

I would do a sphere grid map here, but there's already 3 in IMG format at
GamefAQs, so I am not going to waste my time. Haha.

^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^
^-^-^ < 2.3 > < MENU BASICS > ^-^-^
^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^

Here is just a brief rundown of all the things you can select in the menu. On
the left hand side of the menu screen, you will see a listing of all the current
party members in your group, along with their HP, MP, and Sphere Level. On the
right hand side, you will see a listing of the commands you get to choose. I'm
going to run these down real quick and then move you on, since they're not
terribly hard to figure out, anyways.

Note: The menu screen is one of the most horrible menu screens I have ever seen
in my entire life, seriously. The color scheme is horrific, with some of the
oddest choices I have ever seen. Yellow, pink, black, gray, it's all here, with
a horrible blend. I wish I could have just used the classic background like I
could in pretty much any other FF game, but such is life, I guess.

Sphere Grid: I explained the Sphere Grid above, and this is where you get to go
to work your magic. You get to see your sphere level on the menu screen itself,
so you'll know what kind of work you have to do ahead of time.

Items: Here, you can use items, organize them, check the key items, etc. You
have all the basic stuff here. Nothing's really changed from the last 9 Final
Fantasies..

Ability: Each character has their abilities, which go here. Magic applies, so if
you want to use Cure magic or Life outside of battle, you go here. You can also
sort abilities out here.

Overdrive: Here comes the interesting part. You can check your overdrives here,
but you can also set your overdrive mode depending on how you feel by going to
the "Set" menu. You get a bunch of different modes in this game, and the speed
of your meter filling up will depend directly upon what mode you chose, so make
sure to choose one that suits your character best. (Yuna should usually get
Healer, for instance.)

Equip: The equip menu is still the same as it always is, with one key
difference. Now, characters can't see how a weapon effects their attack power,
or how an armor affects their defense. The key is to check the skills on their
selected weapon's (or armor's) slots. This will help you determine which is the
strongest weapon for you.. one with Strength +10% is better than one with
Strength +5%, for instance.

Status: Here is where you can check up on a character's basic statistics,
ranging from HP to Accuracy. You can't see how much AP you need to reach the
next level, otherwise it's all the same as before.

Aeons: Here is where you can go to check the statuses of the Aeons you have
collected so far. Later on, when you collect some key items, you can use this
menu to add abilities and increase statistics for your Aeons. You will want to
come here a lot, as Aeons are some of the most important things you will use
doing your journey.

Formation: Just use this to switch around your characters. It's not really as
important as it was before, because you can switch characters in and out of
battle, but I always like to have a top team at the beginning anyways to save
time.

Customize: This is another innovation for Final Fantasy X. Here, you can use
items to add certain skills to your weapons or armor, which makes them stronger
in battle. For instance, you can add a bunch of Holy Waters to your armor and be
protected against the Zombie attack. It definitely comes in handy, so make sure
to stop by here if you're having problems with a status effect or certain
attack.

Config: The same thing as it always is, it allows you to change your
preferences. Stero/Mono, cursor placement, etc.

Help: Just gives you some help files about overdrives, Aeons, sphere grid, basic
terms, etc. I never really used this option, as the game does a pretty good job
of explaining it anyways, but if you need extra help, this is a good place to go
to.

^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^
^-^-^ < 2.4 > < OTHER BASICS > ^-^-^
^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^-^

Here is just a list of other tips I prepared to help you out in your journey.

- Make good usage of the advantage you get with being able to switch characters
in and out of battle. Not only will you get to use different characters to kill
different enemies, you will also gain AP for any character you use during
battle!

- Killing enemies before everyone gets a chance to gain AP? I learned that if
you Guard during battle, it counts as a command, so you'll get to have your
weaker characters guard, then stronger characters can attack. When you win the
battle, every character will get AP, even the ones that just guarded!

- AP is not split up by how many characters were in battle. You'll get the same
amount if one character won, or six did.

- You can look ahead in the Sphere Grid to see what skills are ahead of you.
This is good when you get to a split path. Just push X to turn off the selector,
then move around the grid to see what is ahead of you. This helps you maximize
your sphere grid usage in a minimal amount of time.

- The Sensor ability is your friend. Make sure to always have one person in your
party that has the Sensor ability in their weapon. Note that only one of the 3
has to have it, not all 3. This allows you to see enemy weaknesses and to see
how much HP they have left. Perfect for determining what method of killing you
want to use, and it works awesome on bosses!

- Make sure to use Softs on any characters afflicted with the Stone status
effect immediately. Otherwise, one physical attack from an enemy turns them to
dust, and you won't be able to use them for the rest of the battle. Plus, you'll
only be down to 2 characters for the rest of the battle, the 3rd slot will be
uninhabitable.

- Stay in an area where enemies drop Spheres for a while. Before you know it,
you'll have a small empire of them. This makes the game far easier, as you'll
have a vast array of spheres to customize stuff, use them on Aeons, and use them
for the sphere grid.

- I wouldn't use many of the Overdrive modes the game offers. Dancer is one of
the worst ones, because it fills up depending on how well your character evades
attacks. This is not the best idea, as characters will never evade them too
much, and you'll find yourself using less overdrives than you should be.

- Make sure to increase Bahamut's speed and agility as much as you can. Just
imagine a Bahamut with the ability to attack twice for every enemy's turn. You
become a real ass kicker then.

- Wanting to gain more AP fast? Have everyone guard except Yuna, have her summon
an Aeon, then wait till it hits overdrive. This should overkill everything. Stay
by a save point in case your Aeons start to perish.

| STARTING STATS | TIDUS |
~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!
| HP: 520 | Growing up in a strange town called Zanarkand, Tidus is |
| MP: 12 | about to be thrust into an epic adventure. |
| STR: 15 |------------------------------------------------------------
| DEF: 10 | STYLE OF ATTACK: Tidus is your typical sword user, as he |
| MDEF: 5 | swings a sword with the best of them. It's not a piercing |
| MAG: 5 | weapon at first, but it works well against ground based |
| AGL: 10 | enemies that don't have hard shells. Later on in the game,|
| EVA: 10 | he starts to learn basic white magic spells, like Haste, |
| ACC: 10 | Slow, and Hastega. His dedicated sword play, white magic, |
| LUCK: 18 | and agility make him a valuable character. |

~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!
| STARTING STATS | YUNA |
~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!
| HP: 475 | Daughter of the high Summoner Braska, Yuna is the last |
| MP: 84 | hope to put an end to the curse of Spira. |
| STR: 5 |------------------------------------------------------------
| DEF: 5 | STYLE OF ATTACK: Yuna works perfectly as a summoner and |
| MDEF: 20 | white mage, so she becomes one of the most versatile |
| MAG: 20 | characters in the game. Her attacks are pretty weak, and |
| AGL: 10 | she never gets a high amount of HP, but her white magic |
| EVA: 30 | will save you many times. Summons are her big thing, as |
| ACC: 3 | Aeons become one of your main allies in the second half |
| LUCK: 17 | of the game. She definitely earns her keep. |

| STARTING STATS | AURON |
~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!
| HP: 1,030 | Auron was sent by Jecht to protect over Tidus, but is |
| MP: 33 | that his only reason for being where he is? |
| STR: 20 |------------------------------------------------------------
| DEF: 15 | STYLE OF ATTACK: Auron works as a sword user, so he is |
| MDEF: 5 | best against ground based enemies. His piercing weapons |
| MAG: 5 | allow him to break through hard-shelled enemies with ease |
| AGL: 5 | and his Break attacks that you get later on in the game |
| EVA: 5 | prove to be invaluable. Especially Armor Break and Power |
| ACC: 3 | Break, which you will find yourself using a lot. His high |
| LUCK: 17 | attack power makes him a real keeper for your group. |

~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!
| STARTING STATS | WAKKA |
~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!
| HP: 618 | Wakka is the leader of the Besaid Aurochs, a team of |
| MP: 10 | Blitzball Players, but he is also Yuna's main guardian. |
| STR: 14 |------------------------------------------------------------
| DEF: 10 | STYLE OF ATTACK: Wakka has a throwing weapon, which comes |
| MDEF: 5 | in handy against the various flying creatures you will |
| MAG: 10 | face in the game. His special attacks are basically his |
| AGL: 7 | normal attacks, but with the added benefit of afflicting |
| EVA: 5 | a status effect on the enemy. These come in handy when |
| ACC: 25 | you are facing tough enemies with high attack power. One |
| LUCK: 19 | Dark Attack and they are suddenly much weaker. |

| STARTING STATS | LULU |
~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~!
| HP: 380 | She is one of Yuna's main guardians, as well as being a |
| MP: 92 | love interest of Wakka.. or is she? |
| STR: 5 |------------------------------------------------------------
| DEF: 8 | STYLE OF ATTACK: Lulu will come in handy throughout the |
| MDEF: 30 | game, as she is the black mage of the party. Her attacks |
| MAG: 20 | are basically worthless, but her magic more than makes up |
| AGL: 5 | for it. Pinpointing enemy weaknesses and using Lulu to |
| EVA: 40 | use the magic they are weak against is an important |
| ACC: 3 | strategy. Later on, when she gets Doublecast and her top |
| LUCK: 17 | level spells, she becomes nearly unstoppable. |

| HP: 644 | He is a loyal and patient servant of Yuna. When he talks, |
| MP: 78 | people listen. He also has a sad past involving family. |
| STR: 16 |------------------------------------------------------------
| DEF: 15 | STYLE OF ATTACK: Good god, I love Kimahri. I don't get why|
| MDEF: 5 | some people I know say he suddenly becomes weak in this |
| MAG: 17 | second half of the game, because he is dominant the whole |
| AGL: 6 | way through. His attack power is high, as is his HP. His |
| EVA: 5 | piercing weapon can slay mostly any enemy easily, and his |
| ACC: 5 | Lancet ability lets you steal enemy attacks and then use |

| STR: 10 |------------------------------------------------------------
| DEF: 8 | STYLE OF ATTACK: Rikku is the thief of the group, and she |
| MDEF: 8 | is a very important ally. She has a super high amount of |
| MAG: 10 | speed, agility, and a decent HP and attack power. Her main|
| AGL: 16 | assets are her ability to use special items, like Grenade |
| EVA: 5 | and Al Bhed Potion, and her stealing abilities. Plus, her |

Here it is, the real pride and joy of the guide. The bread and butter, if you
will. The game is extremely non-linear for the most part. You won't really have
a tough time figuring out this game, except for maybe some secret item
locations. Also note, that this guide is for players that don't feel the need to
do side quests. My boss strategies will tell you how to defeat bosses with ease
even if you are weak.

Here's why. When I went through the game, I messed up my sphere grid pretty
badly. Tidus did not get Hastega, Lulu barely got Flare at the end, and Yuna
barely got Holy before the final boss. And, I still beat the game. The key is to
just spend some time leveling up, and I will show you how to do that without
devoting hours of your life.

If you don't like to level up, I got my sexy friend Cyril to hook you up with a
side quests guide, so you can do those and beat the final boss in 2 hits. Have
fun!

| Not a terribly long place, but it's a good way to get accustomed to |
| the battle system, as you will fight an interesting battle here. |
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Alright, the game has begun. You will start off with, GASP, a cutscene. I am as
stunned as you. This game has a lot of them, and these early ones can be pretty
interesting. I saw them like 4 times, though, so they're beginning to annoy me.
When you get control of Tidus, walk downwards and talks to the three groups of
people. After talking to all three, you will get to proceed out of here. Yay.
When you are in control of Tidus, start running. As you are running, you will
get to put up with a barrage of dialogue from Auron, as he tells you about your
dad. YIPEE.

Okay, maybe it's not all bad, but the scenes are starting to annoy me as I have
seen them enough times now. Once you get to the end, another scene will occur.
Listen to the song, that is called "Overworld". When I first saw this scene, I
was blown away. The graphics are SO awesome. They look so realistic, with the
water and the detail in the stadium. It looks like a movie, I swear to God.
Plus, that song kicks ass. Just can't beat the song.

Anyways, where was I. Oh, yeah, after this scene, meet up with Auron, and then
you will do more running. Soon, you will be ambushed by a group of enemies, and
Auron will hand you a Long Sword. It's battle time! Just use the Atack command
to barrel your way through these pieces of shit. Just kill the ones that are
blocking your path and move on. No need to waste time with anything over the
top.

After this battle, keep running and you will get into a boss fight. BOSS FIGHT.
BOSS FIGHT. FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT.

| This boss fight is really not that hard at all. Look at his stats |
| for crying out loud! He does an attack called Demi all the time. |
| Those familiar to the Final Fantasy series by now know that Demi |
| will not kill you, as it just takes away 1/4 of your HP from you. |
| So, dying is not really a main concern here. No worries about |
| healing here, so this is the perfect first boss fight, just to get |
| you situated with how everything works. |
| |
| The battle will start off with the Ammes hitting Auron with the |
| Demi spell. This will make him go into Overdrive mode. Push left |
| when it is his turn, and then do the button combination listed to |
| unleash his devastating Bushido attack. This will take care of all |
| those annoying and pesky tentacles in front of him. Thank God, |
| because the fight could get a little tricky with those around. |
| |
| Tidus also gets to do his overdrive soon. After you do it, keep |
| attacking the Ammes until it dies. You won't get anything but |
| the ability to move on from this fight, though. |
=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=

Save your game at the trusty and always available when you need it save sphere,
and then proceed upwards some more. Soon, you will get attacked by another wave
of these annoying Sinscales. Kill the enemies whose wings flicker first. If you
let them get off their attack, called Spines, it will do a lot of damage. As
usual, just kill the ones you need to kill. The cool thing about these early
fights is that you don't actually have to kill all the enemies. Move onto the
next path, and then Auron will instruct Tidus to hit the tanker, which then
destroys all the Sinscales.

After this cool battle, Tidus will find himself in some sort of dream world or
something. He is basically floating above the town. Float towards the figure in
the center platform, and then watch the scene.

| More fun with the beginning of the game, as this time you get to go |
| to the Al Bhed territory, where you meet some interesting characters |
| and learn more about the battle system by fighting good bosses. |
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Now, you will be in a new underwater area. I hate swimming in this game, as the
camera is pretty annoying and you move SO slowly. I'd much rather swim in real
life. =) Go down, and then swim to the left side. When you can land on a dry
platform, do so, and you will find an AL BHED COMPILATION SPHERE here. Well,
that is just plain awesome. I am so happy. Let's move on, shall we?

You simply have to swim all the way to the other side of the river, and you will
pick up 200 GIL, which is good because there's no such thing as bad free money,
or something like that. Once you get this, and maybe read the sign (which you
can't really actually read yet because it's written in a different language
called Al-Bhed), just proceed up the river until you get into a temple.

Here, just walk north until you get to the next screen. This is so fun and
exciting, isn't it? No wonder everyone loves this game! When you get to the fork
in the path, move left and get the HI POTION from the treasure chest at the end
of the path, and then move to the next screen. You're welcome.

Move over to the save point and save your game, which is something I will tell
you to do a lot. You don't really HAVE to here, but it's good practice to save
often. You never know when a storm's gonna knock your PS2's power out or
something. Continue up, and you will get into a battle!

| At first, you will be in a fight with three Sahagin. Just dispose |

| Once you kill two of the three, the Geosgaeno will appear and eat |

| now! There's no way to lose this battle, as he'll only counter |
| attack your moves, and therefore you don't have to do anything |
| except attempt to run away. Or, you can hit him for 3 turns, his |
| counter attacks will only deal half of your current HP damage |
| anyways, so you'll never be able to actually lose this battle. You |
| may be upset at your inability to win, but don't worry... |

After that is completed, you will now be into a place that actually annoyed me
the first time I went through it. You see, there's 3 doors, but I only ever saw
two, so I was always stuck. It's really easy to do what you have to do once you
know how to, though.

Save your game, and then go through the door. Open up the drawer for the FLINT,
and then proceed back into the main room. Now, go to the north section of the
room and enter the door. Move until you pick up the WITHERED BOUQUET. Go back to
the main room, save your game, pick up the ETHER from the chest, and then light
the fire. You will see a weird scene, and then you will have to fight another
boss.

| The battle is really divided into two parts. The first part is |

| and use a Hi Potion to recover lost HP when you get two turns in a |

After this battle, he will be abducted by this strange group of people and
forced to work on their boat for a while. Talk to the solider on the left to get
a POTION, then find the AL BHED PRIMER VOLUME 1 on the right hand side of the
deck. After collecting all 26 of these, you can learn the Al Bhed language. Talk
to the girl now, and she will give you a tutorial. Proceed to then get the Cheer
ability. Time to go underwater!

You will get into some fights down here, but now is a good time to gain some AP
and steal Grenades from the enemies. It's best to pick up several Grenades here,
so you don't run out during the next boss fight, which will be your hardest one
to date. Just have Tidus defend mostly while she steals Grenades. Once they're
stolen, kill the enemies off.

Once you get into the Sunken Ship, save your game and follow the girl along the
path. It's really not too hard at all. Soon, you will have to face the tough
boss I was telling you about.

| This is by far the hardest boss so far, and one that can actually |

| Grenade, while Tidus attacks. After you do so, Tros will swim |
| around to the other side of the chamber. This is where you get your |
| Trigger Command for this battle: Standby. This restores 50 HP, so |
| it will help. The beast will hit you for a lot of damage, but have |
| Tidus do Cheer while the girl throws another Grenade at him. So far |
| so good. |
| |
| The next time the boss goes around the side, wait until it's |
| Tidus's turn, and then do a Trigger Command Pincer Attack. Now, |
| both of you surround him. Finish him off! |
=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=

After this, follow the girl into the hole, and follow the arrow on the map.
Doing so will bring you back to the sphere. After you see the scene, save your
game at the save point and then talk to the girl. This just happens to cause
another Sin attack to happen, which sweeps Tidus away again...

You will immediately be thrust into another scene. Wow, I am so shocked, really.
Tidus will meet up with Wakka, and then you will be on your own. Wakka is one of
the best party members in the game, by the way, so it's always good to see these
"meeting new people" story scenes.

Anyways, when you get control of Tidus, move east for a MOON CREST, which is
nice to have way later on in the game. Go back, and you will meet some more
people. Tidus will show off his amazing Blitzball moves, much to the people's
delights. Always have to please the people. You will learn that Wakka is the
leader of the Besaid Aurochs, and he wants Tidus to join the team.

When you get in control of Tidus again, follow Wakka, but make sure to save at
the save point. Well, you don't HAVE to, but you know what I mean. Tidus and
Wakka will stop at a dead end, and then Wakka will push you into the water. What
a nice fellow! In the water, just follow the current, picking up the ANTIDOTE
X2.

In this town, you will meet up with a few people, and then you will have a
chance to explore the town. So, do so, picking up some items. Go to the Item
Shop and pick up the PHEONIX DOWN just outside the Item Shop, then go inside the
Item Shop and pick up some Potions and Phoenix Downs if you wish. I recommend
picking up a few Potions for later on in the area, as you will need some soon.

There is a secret area in between the Crusader's Lodge and the Inn! Follow the
path to get three chests. These chests contain 400 GIL, 2 POTIONS, and a HI-
POTION. Aren't you so glad you have me around to assist you about this crap?
You'd probably have never found this amazingly well placed and hidden secret if
it was not for me!

Once you do this, time to explore the town. Familiarize yourself with the area.
Once you know where everything is, go to the Inn and check out the Sphere
Monitor. These are incredibly useful, as you get to find out about the various
monsters in this area. Of course, you will soon get some long and boring scenes
during battle which explain how to kill types of enemies, but later on these
Sphere Monitors are useful. (Of course, my enemies guide is just as useful, I
assure you.)

Now that you are done here, proceed to the large temple to the north. Talk to
everyone here to learn about Sin and the Summoners, for storyline purposes, and
then head to the middle stairs. You will get a lecture, so there's nothing much
you can do here. Return to Wakka's house and he will let you take a nap. When
you wake up, you will see some scenes, and it's time to do your first temple
puzzle.

Let me explain these temple puzzles for you real quick. They vary in difficulty,
and each one has their own unique solution. Each temple features various
spheres, which can be used to open up paths and do other various things. You
have to use these spheres wisely and place them in the correct places to move
on. Plus, in each dungeon, there is a special Destruction Sphere, which will let
you get the secret item that the dungeon holds. In one puzzle, you actually need
to get the Destruction Sphere, but elsewhere it is optional.

------------------------------
| Temple 1 |
| Besaid Temple |
------------------------------

Let us begin, shall we? I will try to explain this one as easy as possible. It
helps that this is the least challenging of all the temples in the game, as you
may expect, but it can still prove to be pretty annoying.

Enter this first room, and then move to the back and touch the glyph. This opens
the pathway to another area. Then, touch the glyph to the side, which opens up a
secret passage. Go down the stairs on the right hand side now, and pick up the
GLYPH SPHERE, as well as an explanation about spheres and how they work. Move to
the door at the bottom of these stairs, and then use the sphere you just
received on the hole next to the door. The door will then open. That's how most
of these puzzles work, you have to insert spheres into holes and junk.

Now, here comes the first trick. Now that the door is open, simply take the
sphere out of the recess that you left it in before. The door won't close,
because it automatically opened and won't close now, I guess. Put the Glyph
Sphere in the hole to the left, but don't proceed any further yet. Move along
until you see a pedestal. Underneath this pedestal, touch the Glyph, and this
will open a hidden chamber, which contains the BESAID SPHERE. Now, put the
Besaid Sphere into the pedestal.

Tidus will then push the pedestal inside the chamber that just opened up
automatically for you, but don't proceed into the chamber just yet. Return to
the chamber you opened on the left side that you ignored earlier, and pick up
the DESTRUCTION SPHERE from the inside of it. Return to where you inserted the
Besaid Sphere, and a chamber will open again on the other side of the chamber.
Enter the room that opened, and pick up the ROD OF WISDOM from the treasure
chest, which is a good weapon for Yuna. Push the pedestal into the room until it
sinks into the floor, and you will be all done here.

Congratulations on completing your first of many grueling temples in Final
Fantasy X! Why there couldn't have just been regular dungeons is beyond me, but
hey, Squaresoft made the money here, and I'm just a poor writer writing the
5,000th guide for this game, so what do I know?

-----------------------------
| END TEMPLE |
-----------------------------

In this next scene, you will witness Yuna's summoning abilities, and her
breasts, for the first time. Contrary to popular belief, Yuna has really nice
breasts. I mean, sure, she doesn't flaunt her big ass titties like Lulu does
(Jesus Christ, Lulu could milk 3 babies at once with those puppies), but they
are still nicely sized and shaped. Her outfit is very nice and makes her even
more sexy. I wouldn't mind having some good sex with Yuna, anyways. She's a very
sexy bitch, almost as hot as Lulu. Plus, Yuna gives off signs that she could be
a slut, which is always good. As long as I don't date her. And did I mention she
has nice boobs?

Anyways.. ahem. Sorry about that. After you meet her nice boobs, you will get a
choice of whether you think she's cute or not. It's really up to you, the game
doesn't give a damn what you think anyways. After this, Wakka will let you fall
asleep again, but then Tidus will wake up in the middle of the night, and you'll
get to control him. Woah, controlling someone in their dream, never saw THAT
before in a Final Fantasy game. INNOVATION!

After this weird dream is over, pick up the AL BHED PRIMER VOLUME 2 from the
front of the Inn. It's by the tent. Now, leave the town. Wakka will give you a
Brotherhood, and you will learn more about Chappu. Chappu is a cool story alone,
and you will learn more later. Outside the town, you will get into some battles
and you will be raped with unavoidable scenes where Tidus gets great pointers
like "fire kills ice". So, of course he asks, "I know about fire and ice, but
what about lightning and water?" Fucking game.

If you decide to stop playing this stupid ass game for explaining the history of
lightning and water, and explaining that weapons that fly may do better damage
against flying enemies than weapons that don't, move along the path. At the top
of the area, a monster will swoop down on you. He has 750 HP, so just chisel
away until he's dead. It turns out to be one of Yuna's guardians, the fabulous
Kimahri who became my favorite character in the entire game. Continue along the
path, as you will get a scene explaining how to use Summons for christs sake.
Yep, it's official. I hate this shit.

Eventually, you will finally get back to Besaid Village. Thank god. Talk to the
people in the town to pick up THREE PHOENIX DOWNS, ETHER, SEEKER'S RING, and 400
GIL. On the pier, there is a boy who holds a REMEDY for you to steal from him.
Talk to the shopkeeper and she'll tell you her dog found something. Enter the
second house to the right and talk to the dog to get Valefor's Energy Blast.
Then, move onto the boat. Finally.

| As you may have heard by now, this is a great place to earn some |
| AP early in the game. There are regenerating sinscales here, and |
| each one will give you 2 AP (or 3, depending on whether or not you |
| overkill them, and you might be able to depending on your strength |
| ratings). Keep killing them until you get down to about 20 Yuna MP, |
| and you will get a lot more AP after the fight. I got about 154 |
| from this fight alone, which helps out a LOT at this stage in the |

| The key to actually beating Sin itself is pretty simple. Have |

| have it unload with Energy Ray. After doing this, dismiss Valefor. |
| Wakka, Lulu, and Kimahri are the only people here who can actually |

| It's not that hard at all, but let me tell you, the AP trick is |

| This is one of the tougher fights in the game, especially at the |
| point of the game you are at. You only get Tidus and Wakka, which |
| makes things especially fun. The Sinscales here don't give AP, so I |
| wouldn't really worry about them at all. Echuilles himself has some |
| pretty bad ass attacks, like Blender (which does over 100 HP to both|

You will see more random scenes, and then you will be able to save at the save
sphere, so do so. Follow the group into Kilika, and head left into the bar.
After this scene, which involves Yuna "sending" some dead person, you will wake
up in the Inn. Datto tells you Wakka wants to see you, but first, let's do some
stuff, shall we?

Save the girl directly west of the Inn. She will be grateful and will tell you a
reward is waiting for you. North of the Inn is a treasure chest containing THREE
POTIONS. At the bar, pick up the AL BHED PRIMER VOLUME FOUR on the counter, then
get the ETHER as a reward for saving the girl. Buy some armor and weapons at the
shop, and then proceed to see Wakka.

Here, you will be in Kilika Woods for the first time. This is a great place to
level up a little. Try to get Haste right here for Tidus, as well as NulTide for
Yuna and Focus for Lulu. You don't have to, but it really doesn't take that
long, and it's a nice way to get acquainted with the battle system. But, as you
go through the path, there are some items to pick up.

Save your game at the save sphere first, then go all the way right to pick up
TWO MANA SPHERES. Go left, and then up at the second fork, to get a SCOUT. Go up
and right at the first fork and accept the challenge with Lord Ochu, who is kind
of difficult at this point, but can be defeated. He's optional, so you don't
have to do this.

| The battle becomes easier soon. If you have a weapon with the |

| halfway part of the battle. Have it keep doing Sonic Wings, then |
| blast it with a few fire spells. When it falls to sleep, hit it |

Talk to the man, who will hook you up with an Elixir for surviving that tough

| There's a thing to know about this fight. You have to kill the two |

Now, you will enter the temple, and you will have to do another trial, similar
to before. Yipee.

------------------------------
| Temple 2 |
| Kilika Temple |
------------------------------

Yep, here we are with another temple. This one is harder than the last, and more
complex, but still not all that bad. Remove the KILIKA SPHERE from the pedestal
on the left, and then place it on the slot next to the door. This causes the
door to catch on fire, opening up the door so you can proceed to the next area.
Like before, take out the sphere, so the fire dies down, and proceed to the next
room.

Here, place the Kilika Sphere in the recess on the north wall. This will make a
Glyph appear. Remove the Kilika Sphere from the wall, place it on the slot in
the left hand side of the room, and then touch the Glyph. Remove the Sphere
again, and then place it on one of the side shelves. You can then proceed onward
into a fiery room.

Step on the switch that you see glowing on the floor. This transports the
pedestal from the previous room into here. Take the KILIKA SPHERE from the wall
to remove the flames, and then place the Sphere into the pedestal. Grab the
Kilika Sphere from the previous room now, and put it in the slot where you got
the previous Sphere from.

This will open a secret area, but we won't go there just yet. Instead, push the
powered-up platform onto the floor switch to make the platform drop a little
bit. How strangely erotic. Go down the stairs, and take the Kilika Sphere out.
Place this in the recess next to the exit, and leave it there. Go back now, to
the top secret area, and grab the DESTRUCTION SPHERE.

Take it down the stairs, and place it in the slot that you got the Kilika Sphere
from. This will open up a room which contains the RED ARMLET, which is the prize
of this area. Now, take the Kilika Sphere from the slot, which puts out the
flames. Proceed through the door and you are all done.

-----------------------------
| END TEMPLE |

Yuna will now have the ability to summon her second aeon, Ifrit. Return to the
pier, and then embark on the ship.

| Lots of fun things to do here, as you finally make your way to the |
| epic city of Luca. You will meet a strange new character who may |
| prove to be your biggest adversary, play your first game of blitzball|
| and more. |
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

There's not much here to do on the ship. You can lend O'aka even more gil if you
wish. I recommend giving him more here, as the more you give, the more you get
to buy later from him. Once you are done, head up to the ship and overhear a
conversation between Wakka and Lulu. I like the way the story is going now, a
little. You have to do this a few times. Once they are done talking, go
downstairs and get the AL BHED PRIMER VOLUME 5 from the cabin, then touch the
ball to begin a pretty decent challenge.

This challenge is called the Jecht Shot challenge, and in order to complete it,
you have to move the analog stick in the direction the voice is coming from.
There is probably a pattern to it, but I'll be damned if I could ever figure it
out. Just move the analog stick in the direction, and you will be fine. It goes
really fast at the end, so it might take you a few times, and you only need this
if you plan to win the first game of blitzball.

Soon, you will be at Luca. Exit here, and save your game. Move north, and you
will meet up with Grand Maester Mika for the first time. Exit the dock, and then
move north to his ship. Now, you will be in the Aurouchs locker room, and you
will have to endure a tutorial about blitzball. Let me tell you something, this
is one of the most tedious and boring side games I have ever seen. It's like a
game within a game itself.

After sitting through that garbage, it's time to collect a lot of items in this
town. Leave the locker room and enter the main hallway. Here, go left, then up.
You will be in another locker room, and TWO HIGH POTIONS will be in the treasure
chest at the back of this place. Get the AL BHED PRIMER VOLUME SIX from the
closest player to the front of the door. It's located slightly behind him. Now,
leave here and go down one screen. Save at the save point, and head left.

Here comes the fun parts of getting the items here. Go left, and at the fork, go
left. Get the 600 GIL and TIDAL SPEAR from the chests. Now, get back on the main
path and proceed north to the next screen. In the next screen, you can get TWO
PHOENIX DOWNS from the chest. In Dock 5, you will have to find a secret passage
in the boxes, but in this secret passage are a HP SPHERE and MAGIC SPHERE. I am
not going to insult your intelligence here, it's easy enough to find.

Now, go back to the ticket area, and head down now, then right at the next
screen to get to the Sphere Theater. You can check the sphere monitors if you
wish, it gives you some good information for upcoming fiends. Buy some metal
armor for your characters from the shop next, and then proceed up the stairs on
the right hand side. Get the 1,000 GIL, then watch the scene. Yuna has been
kidnapped, and it's time to save her!

This next section basically just involves a team of Tidus, Kimahri, and Lulu
moving from deck to deck killing machina enemies. They're pretty easy,
especially with Lulu's Thunder spell. Kimahri and Tidus can combine to kill one,
while Lulu takes out one by herself. It's pretty simple stuff. At the end, you
will face a group of workers, but they are not that hard, either. Then, it's
time to face a pretty decent boss!

| This boss is really not that bad, despite his high amount of HP and |
| your limited amount of characters to select from. You still only |
| get Lulu, Kimahri, and Tidus for this battle, but it's still not |
| too bad. You see, there is one thing that will really save your ass |
| in this battle, and that is the crane on the right hand side of the |
| battle field. |
| |
| Here's how you get the crane working in order to make this battle a |
| lot easier on you. Have Tidus first cast Haste on Lulu, and then |
| himself. This will greatly increase your speed and will allow you |
| to get in more attacks before Oblitzerator can do too much damage |
| to you. Kimahri can't do much here, but have Lulu cast Thunder on |
| the crane while Tidus keeps using the Trigger Command to hit it. |
| After a few turns of this, the crane will turn on and rip off the |
| top half of the Oblitzerator, which does severe damage to it and |
| makes the battle much easier. |
| |
| Now that that is taken care of, it's time to go to work. Have Tidus |
| and Kimahri attack, while Lulu hits it with Thunder magic. It will |
| do some attacks, which can cause a little bit of damage, especially |
| the Blitzball Rush. This attack does lots of damage to random |
| characters. It also counters every time you do a physical attack, |
| but as long as you heal, you should be just fine, especially with |
| its severe weakness to lightning magic. |
=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=

Afterwards, watch a long scene, and you will be in the locker room. Talk to
Wakka on the bench, and it's time to play Blitzball. There's really only one way
to win here, and that is by having the Jecht Shot. If you don't have it, you can
forget about winning. If you have it, then just keep passing the ball to
everyone to get them experience, and have Tidus do the Jecht Shot when he is in
the range needed.

Wakka will join you in the 2nd half, which makes it even easier. Once you win
(or lose, whatever), Wakka and Tidus will be attacked by a group of Sahagin
Chiefs. They are kind of tough, so have Wakka do Dark Attack on them. After
killing them all, you will see a scene where fiends attack Luca, but Auron will
return and kill an enemy. A Garuda will attack him, but Wakka and Tidus will
help him. Kill this enemy by doing Dark Attack and Power Break, followed by
physical attacks. Auron will join the party, and you will get to move onto
Mi'ihen Highroad.

Note: Go back to the sphere theater and pick up the AL BHED PRIMER VOLUME SEVEN
from the lobby.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Finally, a new area. I recommend leveling up here for a little while. The
enemies are not too bad for the most part, besides the Bombs and Dual Horns.
Bombs are hard to kill, because you need to kill them in 3 turns or they'll self
destruct, which not only will harm you a lot, but you won't get any AP. The key
is to have Lulu do Ice magic on them, which will kill them within the 3 turns
necessary. It's important to get as much AP as you can from these battles.

Wakka can kill flying enemies easily, as you may know, but his Dark Attack will
come in handy for the Dual Horns. If you don't use Dark Attack, be prepared to
take a beating from them, as they have really high attack power. Have Auron kill
hard shelled enemies, like the Raptor, but he can also be useful in just about
any fight that doesn't include Bombs or Garudas. Power Break is another good
thing to have here, as he will use that a lot. Have Yuna summon Ifrit and
Valefor a lot, as well, so she can build up her affection levels with them.

What abilities do I feel you should get? Make sure Lulu gets her next level of
black magic spells.. Watera, Blizzara, etc. Have everyone else follow their
paths normally, as well. You will get some good skills here, especially if you
fight until Lulu can get these spells.

It will take a little while, but fortunately you get the save point nearby. Not
only will it heal you here, but you also get the ability to play blitzball
whenever you want at save points now. Not a bad idea, and you can practice for a
little if you wish.

Now, you are finally ready to go. Talk to everyone along the path, as you will
learn some helpful information, as well as pick up useful items. Talk to the
historian to learn more about your quest, and make sure to pick up the ICE BRAND
from the chest in the left hand side of the path before making your way to the
next screen, but before going there, you will meet up with the Chocobo Knights.
After this, talk to the woman on the right hand side of the screen.

Her name is Belgemine, and you will face her several times during the game if
you wish. She challenges Yuna to a one-on-one aeons battle, which are never too
difficult. I always recommend that you do these, as you get some good items from
her later. Accept her challenge and she will call out Ifrit, leaving Yuna to do
Valefor. Battle time!

| Valefor is quite a useful Aeon at this point in the game, so this |
| battle won't be too tough to win at all. Valefor's main attack is |
| Sonic Wings, which will delay Ifrit's attack. You can do this, or |
| Blizzard. Do this for a while, but on every other turn, do Shield |
| so his Meteor Strike won't do as much damage to you. I recommend |
| doing Shield one turn, Sonic Wings, then Blizzard, so you get two |
| attacks for every one attacks he does. When Valefor hits overdrive, |
| have it do Energy Ray to finish this battle off. |

After the battle, she will give you an ECHO RING. If you lose, you get a
SEEKER'S SOUL, but I don't see how you could have possibly lost with my GREAT
strategy. =) Move onto the next screen and pick up the REMEDY from the chest.
Talk to the kid here for THREE SOFTS, then go to the next screen. Pick up 2,000
GIL from the treasure chest, then meet up with the Chocobo Knights again. When
they park their wagon, talk to the man for an ETHER, get the chest with THREE
EYE DROPS in it, and then move into the next screen.

Here, you will see Rin's Travel Agency for the first time. This guy seems to
have one in every important area of the game. Go outside and talk to Yuna, then
go inside and talk to a shopper for a LEVEL 1 KEY SPHERE. These are important in
that they allow you to open locks on the sphere grid. Buy some weapons and armor
if you wish, and save your game. As you are about to leave, Rin gives you AL
BHED PRIMER VOLUME EIGHT and then TWO MEGA POTIONS. Go outside, and you will
have to face a tough boss.

| This is one of the more interesting boss fights in the entire game, |
| but it is really not too hard provided you know what you are doing. |
| The key here is that you will want to get AP and Gil from this |
| fight, so you don't want him to knock you off the ledge. If he does |
| so, you won't get anything. You won't die, but no AP or Gil for you.|
| If you can manage to knock him off the ledge, though, you not only |
| get AP and Gil, but you also get TWO LEVEL ONE KEY SPHERES. If you |
| just kill him, you get the AP and Gil, but you won't get the items. |
| Understand? Good. Let's begin. |
| |
| I recommend starting off with a team of Wakka, Lulu, and Tidus. |
| Have Tidus cast Haste on Lulu, while she does Fire magic. Wakka can |
| do Dark Attack. Now, have Wakka switch with Auron, who does Power |
| Break. Have Lulu continue to do Fira, while Tidus switches out |
| with Kimahri, who does normal attacks. Do your overdrives as they |
| come up. Soon, he will fall down. He not only gets weaker defense |
| in this state, he is also going to fall backwards with only a |
| single hit. |
| |
| When he falls backwards, you got him right where you want him. |
| Continue the relentless assault, and when he falls down again, have |
| Yuna summon one of her Aeons, and have her Grand Summon Ifrit. This |
| should knock the Chocobo Eater back one more. He will probably then |
| knock you backwards, but if he doesn't, finish him off with physical|
| attacks. Have Wakka do Dark Attack again, while Lulu does Fira |
| some more. It may take a little while, but soon he will get knocked |
| off the cliff. Don't worry if you kill him, either, as you get lots |
| of Level 1 Key Spheres during the game, so the two you get here |
| won't make or break your game. |
=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=

Now, you get a choice to take a chocobo to Mushroom Rock, or you can still walk.
I recommend walking, as you get to get a chocobo later anyways, and it's always
good to level up for a little while without feeling like you are leveling up
intentionally. See, you won't get into any battles while on the chocobo, and
therefore you won't get any AP. The choice is up to you.

Save your game, then go north for a couple of screens. On this third screen, if
you have the chocobo, you can use the feather to jump a few cliffs to get to the
HEAT LANCE. If not, don't worry, you can get it later. Pick up the AL BHED
PRIMER VOLUME NINE from the ground about halfway through, and then proceed to
the next screen. Now, pick up the chocobo, and then go get the HEAT LANCE. Use
the save point to save, and then go southeast. Here, you can get a THUNDER BLADE
and SCOUT by using the feathers. In the next screen, you can get a FORTUNE SPEAR
and MARS CREST.

Now, go back to the entrance to Mushroom Rock and save again. Talk to the guard
on the left. If you donate 10,000 Gil you can get a MOON RING, while 1,000 gets
you an ICE LANCE. Proceed south, and Maester Seymour will stop you. He will
allow you access to Mushroom Rock, which was nice of him. Listen to this awesome
song that plays here. It's called Determination and is one of my favorite songs
in the entire game. I wish it played during battles, but eh.

Talk to all the guards in the area to pick up some great items, then go west.
Talk to O'aka to buy some stuff, then save your game here. Talk to the guard for
a HI POTION, then step on the platform and push X to proceed up. Talk tot he
guard for TEN POTIONS, then take the 1,000 GIL from the treasure chest. Get the
REMEDY as you circle the platform, then follow the path for a HI-POTION. Take
the platform up, and go west for another platform, which will lead to a SERENE
ARMLET. Go back to the main path and take the platform up. Talk to the guard for
a MEGA POTION, save your game, and then speak to Luzzu. Ride the elevator up.

Go west, and then speak to a guard to learn more about the operation you are
undergoing here. Talk to O'aka if you wish, to pick up some more last second
items, then enter here. Now, whatever you choose here, one of the two are going
to die, sadly. If you choose the second option twice, Gatta will die. Otherwise,
Luzzu will. Get the MEGA POTION and SERENE BRACER from the treasure chests in
here, then find the red arrow on the map and proceed there. After a scene, it's
battle time.

| This guy is really not that hard at all, provided you already |

| Have Auron do Power Break on the Body, then focus on the Arms until |

easy and give good AP. Make sure to have Kimahri use Lancet on these creatures
to get their Stone Breath ability. It's quite useful.

Proceed north up this long path. Talk to the Priest to get a HI-POTION, then
pick up the TWO PHOENIX DOWNS from the treasure chest. If you move to the right
hand side, you can pick up the AL BHED PRIMER VOLUME SEVEN from the area behind
the rock. Cool. Talk to more people to get more items along the way, and look
for a path to the left, where you receive a BRIGHT BANGLE from the treasure
chest. At the split, watch the scene, and then cross the bridges.

The temple will open, but before entering it, head left for 4,000 GIL. Heh heh,
I said head. Usually I'm the one having to pay for it. Now, go right and enter
the Inn. Pick up the FOUR ABILITY SPHERES from outside the Inn before doing so,
though. Now, go inside the temple. You will meet up with a new character, and
then pick up the ETHER and REMEDY from the side chambers before entering the
temple.

------------------------------
| Temple 3 |
| Djose Temple |
------------------------------

Yet another fun and exciting temple. This one is the most fun one yet, as you
get to go into a weird place with lightning stuff and all this fun junk that is
so boring to recap.

Get the DJOSE SPHERES from the recesses on both sides of the door, and then
place them in the door. The door will now open. Wow, how totally complex. Enter
the next room, and then take the 2 spheres from the doors and place them in the
two slots on the eastern side of the room. Now, push the pedestal underneath the
charged up platform on the right hand side.

The pedestal will now be super-charged up and ready to go. Take the sphere out
of the pedestal and place it in the slot to the right of the door. This opens a
door, but go back and place the two Djose spheres on the right hand side of the
room into the pedestal. Move left, and step on the floor switch, which then
makes the pedestal move back to the center of the room.

Push the pedestal in the next room. Tidus can now jump over the lightning using
this pedestal. Push the pedestal onto the other side of the lightning now, which
activates a symbol in the main chamber. Jump back across it to the main room,
and use the floor switch on the left hand side again to move the pedestal back
to the main room.

Now, take the Djose Sphere from the pedestal, and return to the first room.
Place it in one of the slots, and then go back and get the second one and do the
same. Now, the "wings" on the floor will be activated. Take the super charged
Djose sphere from the right side of the door, and place it to the slot on the
left. Ride the platform up to the next level.

Push X at each of these 5 pedestals to push them into the wall behind them. Now,
ride the elevator platform back down to the lower level, and touch the glyph
near the floor switch to the left. Take the DESTRUCTION SPHERE and move up to
the next level using the platform now. Place the Destruction Sphere in the
pedestal for a MAGIC SPHERE, then take the stairs to get the hell out of here.
Yay.

------------------------------
| END TEMPLE |
------------------------------

Afterwards, watch the scene, and Yuna will get the new Aeon, Ixion, to summon.
It's Thunder-based, and one of the better summons in the game. When you can
control Tidus, go back inside to the Inn and pick up the SWITCH HITTER from the
chest, then go inside the temple and in the room to the left of the stairs. Yuna
will wake up. Watch the scene, then go down. Talk to the first guy on the bridge
for a HALBERD, and the guy walking back and forth will give you TWO HI-POTIONS.
Finally, the man on the next bridge will give you an amazing TEN POTIONS. What a
man. Watch another scene, then head north at the split.

Walk along the path, fighting the same old enemies you did before, until you get
up to Shelinda. Watch the scene, then pick up the THREE LEVEL ONE KEY SPHERES
from the treasure chest behind her. Proceed some more and you will meet up with
Kimahri's rivals and old friends again. What is this, a path where everyone just
happens to be? After the scene, pick up the X-POTION from the treasure chest,
and then proceed. Pick up the THREE LEVEL ONE KEY SPHERES from the chest in the
northeast corner, then move onward to meet up with Belgemine again.

| This fight is not that hard, either. Belgemine will summon Ixion |
| for this battle, so Yuna should summon Ifrit. The advantage to |
| having Ifrit is that Fire magic will heal him, so if you find |
| yourself on the short end of the battle, cast Fire on Ifrit once or |
| twice to bring him right back up to speed. Speaking of speed, Ixion |
| will cast Haste a little bit into the battle, and will start to do |
| two attacks in a row on you. Wait for Ifrit to reach overdrive, then|
| hit Ixion with this devastating attack. When Ixion hits overdrive, |
| make sure Ifrit uses Boost. This battle is not too hard, just heal |
| when needed. And, you can always summon Valefor if Ifrit happens to |
| die anyways! |

You will now get a SUMMONER'S SOUL and TWO DRAGON SCALES for winning this
battle. The Summoner's Soul lets you teach abilities to each of your Aeons,
which comes in handy, but you need items in order to do so. Watch the tutorial,
then give all your aeons Cheer, Aim, Focus, and Reflex. Give Ixion or Ifrit
Watera if you wish, then proceed on the path.

Before you get to the next screen, swing left for a MAGIC DEF SPHERE, then move
onwards. Here, just follow the path to the next screen, and you will be at
Moonflow at last. Go left to the wharf, and talk with O'aka to buy some stuff.
Get the TWO PHOENIX DOWNS from the treasure chest, then speak with Auron. Find
the 5,000 GIL behind Lulu. Talk to her and Wakka, then talk to the shoopuf
handler to leave.

Watch this long scene, and then Yuna will be kidnapped by some "evil" Al-Bhed
kids, so Tidus and Wakka swim underneath the water. Boss time!

| The toughest part of this battle is the fact that you only have |
| Tidus and Wakka for it, but it's still not that bad once you start |
| to get into it. It has two attacks, the Aqua Shooter, which does |
| weak damage to one person, but the other one is far dangerous. He |
| will start to do a countdown, and when the countdown is done, he |
| will unleash a devastating attack called Depth Charges on the team. |
| Just have Tidus and Wakka use Hi-Potions in order to heal the damage|
| from this, but the other attack is really not that painful at all |
| and requires no healing. |
| |
| Have Tidus cast Haste on both, or Hastega once, then just keep |
| attacking. If you have the Lightningstrike ability on your weapons, |
| this battle will be much easier, but otherwise it will just take a |
| little bit longer to complete. He's really not that tough at all, |
| as long as you stay patient and keep healing when he does those damn|
| Depth Charges. |

You will soon arrive at the North Wharf. Talk to O'aka again and save your game.
Make sure to buy lots of supplies here. Check the platform above him to pick up
the AL BHED PRIMER VOLUME TWELVE, and then head west onto the trail. Pick up the
ETHER, and then continue along until you meet up with.. Rikku again!
