Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Review by Ma2tagrenade
"Best movie game out there"
Wow! I never thought a movie game would be this good! It has a few problems, but these can be skipped over, because this game is good in evey single way. Blade II for the Xbox sucks, The World Is Not Enough and HP and the Sorcerer's Stone sucks for the PlayStation sucks, but HP and the Chamber of Secrets for the Gamecube in no way sucks. This a great first game for your new console.
GRAPHICS-4/5
Amazing! Everything is so crisp and clear. Colorful and vibrant best describes this game. The way the sun rays go through the windows, the detail on the rugs, the textures in the stone, the realistic paper trees, the sun in the sky, the skimming of the water are all fantastic. The only problem with the graphics is slowdown. Harry Potter will go into slow motion ocassionally. The graphics could also be a little more realistic. Graphics like these make sorry graphical games unexceptable.
CONTROL-5/5
Perfect control. The buttons are formatted perfectly. The buttons are efficient, without being complex. EA has put this is a simple way, nut nothing to simple to the point that it is limited. Only one problem with the control. You can't jump. But when you are having so much fun, not jumping disturbances dissapear. The broomsticks are actually controllable unlike in the horrible controlling one for the PlayStation. It is very smart of EA to let you assign spells to buttons. That gets rid of clutter. Nice control. This game is virtually flawless.
GAMEPLAY-4/5
Pure fun. Fun from start to finish. Never gets booring. Well, there is one thing that could count as a problem. The game is way too long in some parts without a save station. But that could be a plus in some people's minds. The game is kind of like a Zelda game, but not THAT good. The way that you get spells is great. EA used to do a stupid thing by making you copy a dumb pattern. This one is different. Get to your spell, earn your spell, get out and grab a whole lot of house points. There are alot of games that are deep and great in gameplay. But some of the best games forget what Harry Potter does not, pure fun.
REPLAY-3/5
The replay is allright, but could've been better. Folio Magi is no Grand Theft Auto hidden packages. The Lost and Found is highly fun, but ends too fast. Basically, the replay is better if you just replay the game and do a better job of it. Replaying on your old file will offer a fair amount of replay, but nothing special. Still, playing the regular game is worth playing several times over.
FINAL SCORE-8/10
You may think that this is just a movie game and all of a sudden becomes just average. This is no average game. This a fairly deep adventure, but it is an extremely fun adventure. This game does have it's flaws and it may be no Final Fantasy X, but it stays true to the very thing that video games are made for. And that is having fun.
+ The fun factor involved with the fairly deep adventure
- The horrible slowdown
